Dentures in Chino Hills
Dentures are various removable appliances used to replace missing teeth.
There are different kinds of dentures:
– A complete denture replaces a complete set of top or bottom teeth. A conventional complete denture is made after all remaining teeth are removed and tissues are healed. An immediate complete denture is made before remaining teeth are removed. This denture is delivered the same day extractions of remaining teeth are performed.
– A partial denture replaces some of top or bottom teeth that are missing. The traditional partial denture uses chrome metal as a base of the denture, but the newer partial denture uses clear plastic (valplast) and does not have any metal.
– An overdenture replaces some or a complete set of top or bottom teeth by saving few of your remaining healthy teeth to preserve jaw bone and provide retention and support for the denture. An overdenture sits over a small size of remaining natural tooth structure (the root) after being shaped by the Dentist. A couple implants can also be done instead of saving the natural teeth.
New denture might feel uncomfortable at the beginning, especially if it is your first one. It is common to experience soreness or minor irritation on the gum. The Dentist usually schedules few follow up appointments after delivery of the dentures. At the follow up appointments, adjustments will be done until you feel comfortable with the denture. Most people will experience gum shrinkage which causes their denture to feel loose. In this case, your denture will need to be relined (adding material) to get a better and tight fit.
